Basil Davenport (March 7, 1905 - April 7, 1966) was an academic, author and editor.

Davenport was born in Louisville, Jefferson County. He edited and co-edited several anthologies in the 1950s and 1960s. He also co-wrote a non-fiction anthology with lectures on how to properly write a novel along with Alfred Bester, Robert Bloch, Robert A. Heinlein and C. M. Kornbluth titled The Science Fiction Novel: Imagination and Social Criticism.

Davenport died April 7, 1966 in New York. He was buried in Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville.
