Colonel William Oldham (June 17, 1753 – November 4, 1791) was born in Berkley County, Virginia. He served in the American Revolutionary War as a captain and colonel and participated in the battles of Brandywine and Monmouth.
Oldham commanded the Kentucky militia in Ohio against Indian settlements.
Oldham was killed at the age of 37 on November 4, 1791 in a battle of Wabash, also called St. Clair's Defeat in which 890 enlisted men and 16 officers were killed or wounded.
Oldham County is named in his honor.
Oldham is buried in the Oldham Family Cemetery in Louisville.
