Evan Williams

Evan Williams (1755 - 1810) was a master distiller who founded the first commercial spirit distillery "K.S.P. #1" in Louisville in 1783. It was located at 5th and Main.

Williams was appointed to the very first city council in Louisville. Later Williams was appointed to Harbor Master of Louisville. The harbor was located at the Falls of Ohio. He was able to ship barrels of his bourbon via flatboat to New Orleans.

He was also a master stonemason and builder who oversaw construction of the first jail and courthouse in Jefferson County.
