William M

William M. Harris (1850 - 1878) was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor due to his actions during the Indian Wars.

He served as a Private in Company D, 7th US Calvary. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on June 25, 1876 at the Little Big Horn River, Montana. His citation reads "Voluntarily brought water to the wounded under fire of the enemy."

William Harris died in 1878 and was buried in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Jessamine County.
